ACURIT Technical Pens Suck!

I am a FRAKTUR folk artist and I recently opened up some new ACURIT brand technical pens made in China for my decorative folk art.  As I painted over my pen work to create a colorful border and fill in the Fraktur lettering the black ik RAN into my acrylic ink pigments! I am so damn disgusted I am throwing the new pens right in the garbage! I opened up two “new” MICRON pens made in Japan (The ones I usually use) and I painted over some ink on a test piece and it didn’t run Thank God!  I had bought the never used MICRON pens 1.5 years ago and they were fine! I painted over the yellow border 3 times to cover up the black discolored inks. I still need to work on the lettering! See how they run…?  (Lady Madonna..children at your feet…  (I just had to sing that lyric.. lol! That sentence makes me think  of the song.. lol)Emma

On Being Creative…

I’m ashamed to say that I have a gift for someone’s baby shower that I never finished making. I started it before the baby was born in February and it’s still hanging on the wall in the kitchen in a zip lock bag to keep it clean. The baby is now 6 months old and her parents have yet to receive my gift! Aren’t I just awful? I tried selling my artwork over 20 years ago but it just didn’t sell well. I mostly made FRAKTUR Birth/Baptism certificates or documents. I even had a few orders for them plus a few Marriage certificates which I stopped making when the married couples kept ended up getting divorced! I’ve also created an assortment of other odds and ends to give away which clutter up my acid free museum quality storage box. .

Recently I have been considering making POSITVE WORDS in the Fraktur style and just framing them to give away as gifts.. what do you think? A good idea?

Blogging Artists.. Do you?

Hey all you blogging artists.. I have a question:

Do you use your real name in your blog? You want the world to know who did your artwork so you’d think you would, right? How many blogging artists digitally WATERMARK their artwork? I don’t see too much of it in WordPress. Is that because you don’t care if someone else steals you artwork or creative ideas? I admit to being a paranoid person so I have been posted artwork with my signature and the date/number cropped off.
